THINGS TO DO

Many of our visitors stay a week at Mountain View Cottage. Some come to do, well, nothing at all; nothing except get away from daily stress. Other's often ask us for ideas about what to see and do. Here are some of the ways you can enjoy Saltspring.

When you arrive on Salt Spring Island, go into the village (Ganges) and stop at “The Fishery” and pick up some fresh seafood, head to “Nature Works” organic health food store for some produce, over to “Barbs Buns” for some great bread and hit the liquor store for some local wine, arrive at the cottage and relax for the evening! Have a glass of wine on the deck and watch the sun set over Mount Maxwell, watch a movie or soak in the hot tub!

If you want to do dinner out, check out our local restaurants. They are many great place to eat on the island. We will be glad to recommend one that will sure to please you.

Go for a hike or walk. There are many places to walk around our property and on SSI. Our property is within walking distance to Andreas Vogt Nature Reserve and Stewart Road Linear Park. We provide a hiking book in the cottage for our guests to enjoy and get to know the island. You can also see some of our wonderful trails online here.
Or join the Salt Spring Trail and Nature Club for a ramble, walk or hike.

Go for a swim. Swim in one of our lakes, Weston, Cusheon or St.Mary’s, Cusheon is the best access as it has a float. Ocean beaches are great too; try Baders Beach, Vesuvius, Southey Point, Churchill Road or Beddis beach. Watch the sun set at Southey Point, it’s probably the warmest water for swimming on the island.

Get a spa treatment at Solace Spa. They are less than 4 minutes away and have a fabulous treatment room with very talented therapist. Book directly with Julie or we will happily do this for you.

Tour the Studios. The Salt Spring Studio Tour is an annual self-guided tour of more than 30 artist and artisan studios on the island. The arts and crafts are of exceptional quality and the tour also includes several farms and a vineyard.

Take in a show at Artspring.
Salt Spring Island’s premier venue for concerts, theatre, exhibitions - and much more!

Visit Mahon Hall.

Play Golf. There are two 9 hole golf courses on SSI.
